Writer of “La Dolce Vita” and “8 1/2″ Dies
Tullio Pinelli, who along with direct Federico Fellini brought to life some of the greatest films ever made, has passed away at the ripe old age of 100. Pinelli’s career began in 1944 when he penned the screenplay for “In Cerca Di Felicità.” However he is best known for his collaboration with Fellini. Together the two created the greatest movies that Italian cinema has known: 1960’s “La Dolce Vita,” 1963’s “8 1/2,” 1953’s “I Vitelloni,” and 1954’s “La Strada.” All told, Pinelli wrote 83 screenplays in a career that spanned 65 years. His last screenplay was for the film, “Voyage to Tulum,” which is still in production.
